President's Letter
End of Year 2024
Dear Current and Future BFF Partner:

How quickly this year has gone by. We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We at the foundation want to thank you for your continued support and to give you a quick summary of our achievements in 2024.

This year we had such a wonderful time in Dominica presenting our first in-person scholarship awards to 27 students. We later added 2 other students for a total of 29 awardees for the school year. It was a humbling experience meeting the parents and having them express their gratitude for the scholarships.

In my 2023 end of year letter, I made note of a student who had received his first scholarship from us and he expressed that the award was allowing him to enter high school as a happy boy. Sadly, Joash passed away suddenly a couple of weeks ago. We got to meet him as he accepted his scholarship for this new year. While we are saddened, we are grateful that we had an opportunity to make his short life a bit easier.

This year we also presented our inaugural community service award given to one of our students whose involvement in his community is exemplary. He plays with a steel band that held a fund-raising concert for the cancer society. In addition, his band provides entertainment for patients at the infirmary. We will be making this award to 1 student annually.

Finally, this year we have had 2 quarterly zoom sessions with our students/parents and educators. We want to foster a sense of community among the students and instill in them the necessity of giving back to others. The sessions have been informational and very well received by the students/parents.

For the next school year, we want to continue to support our current group of students (providing that they still have a financial need and they are in good standing academically). As students graduate from high school, we will continue to bring in new awardees. The need is great.
Thank you again for supporting our vision with your tax-deductible contributions. We aim to be good stewards of our resources. Historically 95-99% of your donations go directly to the students. Currently, one year scholarships average $400US per student so every donation is greatly appreciated.
May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.

Sincerely,
