HOW BFF IS IMPACTING LIVES
SELECTION PROCESS
BFF works closely with school principals, community leaders, guidance counselors and teachers to identify students in need. This allows BFF to have a 360-degree assessment in the selection process by identifying the students in most need, while demonstrating a desire to excel.
RECIPIENT AWARD
BFF provides scholarships to students at the beginning of the school year. Scholarships are used for school fees, books, school supplies, and transportation. This greatly reduces stress and burdens on parents and students as they prepare for the school year.
ONGOING COMMUNICATION
BFF believes firmly in ongoing communication with the students, parents, principals, and guidance counselors throughout the school year. BFF has a vested interest in ensuring that the students’ progress in their studies.
ONGOING SUPPORT
BFF provides ongoing support to award recipients provided that students maintain good grades. BFF makes a commitment through the years to ensure that students graduate. This is important to ensure that students who desire to excel make it to the finish line. As a part of ongoing financial support from BFF, students are required to participate in community service activities.
INSPIRING OTHERS
BFF Awardees become evangelist by identifying other students in need and sharing their stories with other students on how the organization has made an impact in their lives and communities. This effort is self-initiated by the students. This is a testament to the impact of BFF on students and their communities.
BROADENING PERSPECTIVES
BFF works with universities, institutions, local businesses, and trade initiatives to broaden perspectives, share resources, and assist students in identifying a career path post graduation. This is very important in fulfilling BFF’s mission of facilitating positive changes in families and communities through education.

Impact Data
To date, the Bernadette Francis Foundation has given US $56,000 in donations and contributions. We have awarded 186 recipients and helped establish a Women’s Tapioca Initiative in Dominica to spur sustainable economic activity and climate resilience. Our donations have helped students recover from hurricane Maria which was the worst natural disaster in Dominica’s recorded history. In addition to Dominica, our contributions have helped students in the United States, Grenada, St. Lucia, Zambia, Barbados and Cameroon. We are excited and eager to continue to assist students to overcome adversities and to achieve their goals through education. We are very aware that education not only impacts the child but also their families and communities.

I am honored to have been selected as the recipient of the Bernadette Francis Foundation Scholarship of $1,300 for the upcoming semester. Thank you for your generous contribution. Goals & Objectives
The goals and objectives of BFF is to continue to support school children such as Carmen, Sherris, Cornelia, and Shaulita to achieve their education goals. We have periodic checks with these school children and their parents to keep up with their progress. We believe that ongoing support is vital to get them across the finish line. We work with trusted sources on the ground in various countries to identify and verify the needs of these students.
